Statement for "Moreover the Same"

(photocopies/word documents)

In the spirit of John Henry, every once in a while, one must challenge the mechanical. An attempt is made to temper the modernist white on white, assisted by a device culled from shadows of a window frame - suggestion without substance. In an extended pursuit of such media/material as is readily available, this show broods on images generated by photocopiers and laser print/word processors. In recent memory these tools have given form to our thoughts (thinking) and looking (collective visual record). These tools are pedestrian in nature; relatively inexpensive: requiring a brief detour. They are instant processes; their illusions/allusions are both liberating and alienating. From hums and blips, occasionally comes a new visual noise. One is advised to protect their eyes.
